THE CATCHER GALLERY

This gallery came into being because Suzanne Morine started a CR art contest in February 2001. Thinking that was a brilliant idea I suddenly found myself fiddling around with ideas, paint programs, etc. All in all I contributed the first 4 pictures you can see below, some of them incognito.
"Kings in the Back Row" and "The Ossenburger Ad" were created in 2004 resp. 2005.

Now, if you have something you would like to contribute, why not send it to me or to Suzanne Morine (her contest is over, but she is still looking forward to new items for her gallery). Also, if you have an idea for a piece of art, why don't you just send that - I will publish it here, and there might be people who would love to create something on the basis of that idea...

Below you'll find some links to other sites which offer art in connection with CR. If you know of any more, please send me an email ...

Above all, there is  Suzanne Morine's CATCHER ART CONTEST
Suzanne has also created her own vision of  The Rye Field
Cartoon part 1 and  Cartoon part 2  This is a cute cartoon version of CR - in fact, it might remind you of Fisher Price Toys...
A guy from the Netherlands had an interesting idea: he put up a site on which you can find Covers of The Catcher in the Rye
Take a look at what Holden might look like - on the CR cover of a European edition
If you go to this photo at amazon.com, you'll see the front cover of Paul Alexander's biography of Salinger. Now, what is remarkable about that is the fact that there are two photos in one: you get the young and the old Salinger, sort of standing side by side, looking in the same direction, giving the impression that we actually see two different people and/or two personae of the same human being. Very thought-provoking...

Ideas

  • The Pencey ad (see page 2) with the "hot shot guy on a horse jumping over a fence".
If I could draw the horse/fence or if a found a nice gif , I would do it myself!
